Animals carrying a few extra pounds place extra demands on virtually all the organs of their bodies. When we overload these organs, disease and sometimes death are the consequences. The health risks to overweight animals are serious and every animal owner should be aware of them. Some of these risks may include the following:
- Damaged Joints, Bones, and/or Ligaments
- Heart Disease
- Diabetes
- Difficulty Breathing
- Decreased Stamina
- Heat Intolerance
- Digestive Disorders
- Skin and Hair coat Problems
- Increased risk of Cancer
- Decreased Quality and Length of Life.
At our Practice, we offer a weight management program that will help lower your pet’s weight and get the pet into ideal shape.
Our program is specifically created to help your pet achieve the proper body condition for their size and breed. We offer prescription diet foods and regular weigh-ins to monitor your pet’s progress until they reach their goal weight. Our program has a one time fee that will vary depending on your pet’s body condition score. Once your pet has started our program we will help manage their weight and overall health, give you new feeding guidelines, and go over helpful tips to introduce your pet into a healthier lifestyle. When they have finished the program they will receive a certificate of completion to show the great accomplishment you and your pet have made.
