We offer the following vaccines:
- Rabies: This vaccine is required by law for both dogs and cats. The first vaccine is good for 1 year, the following vaccinations are good for 3 years.
- Canine Distemper: This yearly vaccine is recommended for all dogs. The vaccine includes protection against 4 viruses: Canine Distemper virus, Adenovirus type 2, Parainfluenza virus, and Parvo Virus.
- Lyme Disease: This yearly vaccine is recommended for dogs in this area due to the high number of ticks and incidents of Lyme disease.
- Bordetella (Kennel Cough): This vaccine is recommended every 6 months for at risk dogs. Activities that are associated with increased risk for kennel cough include boarding, going to a groomer, activities at dog parks and attending dog shows. This disease is spread by close contact and respiratory secretions of sick dogs.
- Feline Distemper: This yearly vaccine is recommended for all cats. The vaccine includes protection against 3 viruses: Feline Rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus and Panleukopenia virus.
- Feline Leukemia: This vaccine is recommended yearly for at risk cats. Cats that have access to the outside or that are exposed to kittens or cats whose health status is unknown are at risk for contracting Feline Leukemia. This virus is spread by respiratory secretions, sharing food and water dishes and grooming behavior.
- Feline Aids: This vaccine is recommended yearly for at risk cats. Cats that have access to the outside or that are exposed to kittens or cats whose health status is unknown are at risk for contracting Feline Aids. This virus is spread mostly through bite wounds but rarely can be spread by close contact and respiratory secretions.
We do not currently offer the Canine Influenza vaccine. At this point in time, we do not feel the vaccine should be a part of routine annual care for the average dog. |
