Our greatest concern is the well-being of your pet. Before placing your pet under anesthesia, a veterinarian will perform a complete physical examination to identify any existing medical conditions that could complicate the procedure and compromise the health of your pet. Because there is always the possibility a physical exam alone will not identify all of your pet's health problems especially internal problems, we require that a pre-anesthetic blood screening (a combination of blood values) be performed prior to anesthesia. This blood test will help determine if there are any liver, kidney, or blood abnormalities which might preclude your pet from having the scheduled procedure. It also allows the doctor to individually tailor the anesthesia process specifically for your pet's needs (type of medication, amount of medication, plus whether or not fluid therapy is necessary).
